The 45,000 m² Sungaipurun base camp of PT. Punj Lloyd Indonesia was set up to propel new business initiatives. Built in a record ten months, it also features a concrete jetty. This makes it accessible both by road as well as river and thus ideal for amphibious transportation.

Sungaipurun base camp is being used for the storage / repair / maintenance of PT. Punj Lloyd Indonesia owned equipment and project office, fabrication / storage yard, accommodation, etc.

Base camp has a 1,200 sq. mtr. repair and maintenance shop with a 10 T monorail gantry. This shop undertakes the maintenance of heavy amphibian equipment like marsh buggies, swamp cranes, swamp excavators; flexi-yoke work barges, barges and pontoons as well as construction equipment like crawler cranes, welding machines, power generators, compressors, vibro hammer, etc. Following are some of the features of repair & maintenance facilities in base camp:

• Engine repair room: This dust free room is used for the repair of high-precision components like engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps and motors.
• Machine shop: This shop has facility to machine, grind & drill all type of equipment components required for the repair of construction equipment.
• Testing room: Modern diagnostic tools and instruments like flow meter, pressure-testing machines are used to certify the performance parameters of different machines parts.
• Warehouse: Two separate warehouse for storage of project material and Spare Parts are available in base camp. Both the warehouses are built in an area of 18 m x 40 m. An Oracle-based ERP system is being used to maintain and update inventory.
• Fabrication shop facilities: The fabrication shop undertakes the fabrication of piping / structures for the ongoing projects. This fabrication shop is supported by two sandblasting and painting sheds, NDT room and open space of 4100 sq. mtr. for storage of raw material and fabricated material .
• Loading and unloading Jetty: A concrete jetty of size 70 m x 10 m capacity 300 ton is being used for loading and unloading of material from vessels. Jetty is equipped with a 150 ton crane and trailers for loading & unloading activities.
• Open storage facilities: Base camp has total open area of 46,000 Sq. mtr. for storage of project material. Out of this, an area of 9000 sq. mtr. is located near the loading / unloading jetty and being used for the storage of material ready for load out. This also includes an area of approximately 30,000 sq. mtr. being developed in anticipation of new projects.
• Skid way for Platform launching: A skid way of 1000-ton capacity and 120 m long for assembling and launching of offshore platform is underway. Design & engineering works for skid way construction is over and construction of skid way is proposed to commenced shortly. With the completion of this skid way, PTPLI will be capable of fabricating and launching offshore production platforms of 275-ton weight.
• Manpower: More than 50 highly skilled, trained, experienced and dedicated personnel are available to repair and recondition construction equipment.
• Office & Accommodation area: The base camp also houses the PT Punj Lloyd Indonesia office, residential accommodation, messing and recreational facilities.
• Health, Safety & Environment: The base camp is equipped with a clinic and ambulance for any emergency situation. Camp is equipped with safety equipment like fire fighting vehicle, fire extinguishers, file alarm, emergency alarms, etc as per company HSE policy. Personnel deployed in camp are trained for handling emergency situations.
